Awarding of the Pasqual Maragall Researchers Programme research grant to Dr. Alberto Rábano

On 27 February, at the Giner de los Ríos Foundation (Madrid), one of the Pasqual Maragall Researchers Programme (PMRP) research grants will be awarded to Dr. Alberto Rábano, director of the Queen Sofia Foundation's CIEN-BT-CIEN Tissue Bank. His project aims to advance the understanding of the genetic basis of various brain pathologies.
Dr. Rábano will work on the creation of the largest neuropathological database in the Iberian Peninsula, combining detailed genomic data with an updated neuropathological classification. This research will be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Victoria Fernández, head of the Genomics programme at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, in order to improve early diagnosis and risk assessment tools
Informative talk: ‘When you take care of yourself, Alzheimer's takes a step back’.
As part of the event, Dr. Nina Gramunt, neuropsychologist and expert in training and dissemination of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, will give an informative talk focused on the prevention of Alzheimer's disease. During her talk, she will address prevention strategies, as well as the latest advances in the early detection and treatment of the disease.
