CIEN participates in the 13th European Conference on Clinical Neuroimaging (ECCN)
)
The Centre for Research on Neurological Diseases (CIEN) is participating from today in the 13th European Conference on Clinical Neuroimaging (ECCN), to be held from 24-26 March 2025 in Madrid, Spain. This major international event will bring together clinical neuroimaging experts, researchers and clinicians to discuss the latest advances in the diagnosis, treatment and understanding of neurodegenerative diseases.
Outstanding CIEN Contributions
Two leading CIEN researchers, Pascual Sánchez-Juan, scientific director, and Michel Grothe, head of the neuroimaging platform, will play a central role in Lecture Session 1, entitled ‘Redefining disease categories in dementia’, scheduled for this afternoon, Monday 24 March, from 13:00 to 14:30. This session will focus on new perspectives on the pathological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and their relationship with neuroimaging biomarkers.In it, we highlight:
- 13:00 h: Histopathology and Clinical Criteria of Limbic-predominant Amnestic Neurodegenerative Syndrome, by Pascual Sánchez-Juan (Madrid, Spain). Sánchez-Juan will address the importance of redefining clinical and pathological criteria in neurodegenerative syndromes with predominant limbic system involvement. His research focuses on establishing a better correlation between histopathological findings and clinical manifestations in this type of dementia.
- 14:00 h: FDG-PET Signature of Limbic-predominant Age-related TDP-43 Encephalopathy, by Michel Grothe (Madrid, Spain). In his talk, Grothe will present the most recent findings on the metabolic signature detected by FDG-PET in limbic encephalopathy related to TDP-43 deposits, a common pathology in ageing and related dementias.
Innovation and Scientific Leadership.
These presentations reflect CIEN's key involvement in the study of new diagnostic categories and biomarkers that can improve the early diagnosis and characterisation of diseases such as Alzheimer's and related dementias.
The ECCN will also serve as a platform to establish international collaborations and reinforce CIEN's position as a reference in the field of neuroimaging and neurodegenerative disease research.
